Thank you very much for guiding us successfully through our recent kitchen renovation project. Some people may wonder if it is worth the money to hire someone to pull together all the different trades and work cooperatively towards the completion of such projects. However, it is well worth the cost for the assurance that friendly and knowledgeable tradespeople will show up at the agreed date and time, and who are motivated to look after even small details which the average person might struggle to schedule during busy construction times. We are very thankful to have tapped into your years of expertise and work in building a network of reliable contacts. I admit to having been a bit skeptical of the estimated cost of, for example, having drywall work done - but I now have a good appreciation for the number of trips out to our house to do a quality job the first time. The plumbers, electricians, HVAC fellow, and others were all friendly, helpful, and professional. I must include thanks to Angel Serra at Ottawa Refacing for his incredible patience during the early stages of the project, the fantastic cabinet work done, and for putting me in touch with you and suggesting Ottawa Granite and other suppliers who have also proven to be excellent. I will happily continue puttering around with some of the easier things to complete on my own, such as a bit trim painting and will be proud to share "before" and "after" pictures of our kitchen with you later.

I would have no hesitation in using your services again.

Joe Martello Custom Renovations just finished a major re-tiling of a number of rooms (6) on the main floor of our house and we couldn’t possibly be more pleased with the results. If you are thinking of having this kind of work done in your home then you need to include Joe Martello in your list of potential contractors to do the job.

Joe’s word. First of all, when Joe tells you something, it happens just as he said it would and when it would. His crew always, I say again, always arrives on time. Moreover, as part of this job, a toilet had to be removed and all of the appliances had to be removed and disconnected, including a gas stove and a dishwasher. The plumbers and the gas technician arrived on the promised day (both for the removal and then again for the re-connection at the end of the job) and their work blended in seamlessly with Joe’s other workers’ scheduled work … no waiting around, no interruptions … all went smoothly. You know you’ve hit a GOOD contractor when you can count on his word as to how and when the job will get done and be finished. A true blessing when you don’t have any appliances connected and working (meals, laundry, etc.).

His crew. I really should say “crews” as he has different crews each handling different aspects of the job … demolition and tile removal, tile installation, finishing touches (baseboards and quarter rounds, painting touch-ups, etc.). Nonetheless, they all have one thing in common … they treat your home as if it were their own and always ensure that they are doing things just as you want them done. They are respectful of your things, clean up when they are done for the day and are always very courteous. They are truly professional and it is a pleasure to watch them work, especially the crew installing the tiles … great precision, careful attention to detail and meticulous execution. The finished job looks fantastic.

The dust. You are having tiles removed … there will be dust … guaranteed! But nowhere near the amount that you could have without the efforts of his crew … both in the installation of walls of plastic film between the rooms and the covering of various items (furniture, cupboards, etc.) as well as their advice to you on steps that you can take to minimize the dust getting into your house ventilation system, etc.

A re-tiling project can be a long and expensive proposition … you agonize over the choice of the tiles, the size of tile, the orientation, the pattern on the floor, the colour of the grout, you bring home many samples to ensure that your choice is the good one, etc…. ensure that you also spend the time required to compare the contractors out there looking for your business. We did and we decided to go with Joe … we couldn’t be happier with our decision; get yourself a contractor whose professional crews inspire confidence that the job will be done right. Joe Martello is your man!

In the Spring of 2022, we hired a company to do some work in the house including replacing the tiles on the main floor and the backsplash in the kitchen. Joe Martello Custom Renovations was suggested to us by the company we gave the original contract to take care of the tiling. Thank you and your team for your professionalism in the completing the replacement of our fence after the May 2022 storm. Your prompt response in answering our questions, doing the measurements, and providing a quote was greatly appreciated. We were also glad that the work was completed on time. The team was able to provide options and solutions when they encountered some challenges when setting the new fence posts and the result looks fantastic. We started planning our kitchen in August of 2022. After careful consideration & many quotes we decided to go with Ottawa Refacing as they provide new custom cabinets (as well refacing existing cabinetry). Taylor, the designer recommended Joe Martello Custom Renovations for the job of our total kitchen rebuild.
When Joe Martello (the owner & project manager of the family owned business) contacted us it was fall & and I was excited to get the work started as we were totally gutting the kitchen (moving plumbing & electrical as well as taking everything down to the studs). Joe was able to fit us in the 2nd week of January which was very generous of him. His son, Francesco, came & measured, took photos & answered all of our questions. We were happy with the quote & his team also had an electrician & plumber.
Work began the second week of January. The Martello team were very reliable, efficient, & did quality work. They also stood behind their workmanship. They did the backsplash tile, flooring (including flooring in the kitchen, hallway, laundry room, powder room, & mud room so it would all co-ordinate), drywall, & painting.
Any questions I had, Joe would immediately phone me to discuss our concerns/changes if the crew couldn’t provide me with the information.

What a great experience! From Francesco’s first meeting to the final touches, JMCR has provided courteous and professional services. We had a complex master bathroom redesign that led to a closet renovation, then upstairs flooring and stair replacement. JMCR listened to our ideas to bring our design to completion on budget, while exceeding our expectations.
